All over Australia, unions have fought for wage increases for low-wage workers.
The ACTU applauded the Fair Work Commission's 3.5 percent wage increase for 3 million Australians on minimum and award wages.
From July 1, this group of mostly part-time and lower-paid workers will receive a $32 weekly wage increase or $1666 annual gain if working full-time.
The decision mostly affects workers in accommodation and food services, community, care, retail, arts, administration, recreation, and health care.
The pay boost will help workers recover from five years of inflation and keep real wages moving to rebuild living standards.
