The Freedom Flotilla Coalition plans to launch a vessel carrying international journalists and medical professionals to Gaza on October 1, 2025, in an attempt to circumvent Israel’s nearly two-year blockade on foreign press access to the territory. The initiative responds to what organizers describe as one of the most restrictive media environments in recent history, with Israel denying entry to foreign journalists while hundreds of Palestinian journalists have been killed and others imprisoned since October 2023.
The mission also aims to provide medical support to Gaza’s severely damaged healthcare infrastructure, which has deteriorated under ongoing siege and bombardment. Palestinian medical workers have faced targeted killings, abductions, and torture, while international healthcare professionals have been largely barred from entering the territory with needed supplies. The FFC states journalists aboard will maintain full editorial independence during the voyage, which will join other flotilla vessels bound for Gaza. Coalition organizers are calling on governments and international bodies to ensure safe passage for the ship and to pressure for an end to the blockade.
