Opposition Slams "Greens' ANZAC Day Rave" as Disrespectful, Criticizes Potential Labor-Greens Coalition
The Opposition has condemned a fundraising rave reportedly organized by the Greens party on ANZAC Day, labeling it "completely inappropriate" and reflective of poor values while warning voters about the implications of a potential Labor-Greens coalition government.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton used the event to highlight what he described as the Greens' "contempt" for Defense Force personnel, claiming the party wants to strip funding from Australia's military. He called on the Prime Minister to denounce the planned event.
"I think it's completely inappropriate, and I think it reflects the poor values that the Greens stand for. And I just say to every young Australian who's proud of their grandfather who fought in the war, proud of a cousin who's serving in the Australian Defence Force now, understand that the Greens have complete contempt for our Defence Force personnel."
Dutton connected the issue to broader concerns about a potential post-election alliance between Labor and the Greens, suggesting such a partnership would have serious implications for economic management and national security.
"The Greens, of course, would be the partners in government with Anthony Albanese. And Mr Albanese should condemn these actions. And frankly, the weak leadership of the Prime Minister in a relationship with Adam Bandt would be a disaster for the economy and for our national security."
The Opposition leader's comments reflect ongoing efforts to frame the upcoming election as a choice not just between major parties but between governing philosophies, with Dutton positioning himself as a defender of traditional values against what he characterizes as more radical alternatives.
"They want to strip money from the Australian Defence Force, who keep us safe day and night. Here, whenever we travel overseas, the Australian Defence Force has a presence in most countries that our young Australians visit, and they're part of keeping young Australians safe when they're travelling overseas."
