At 7,863.7, the S&P/ASX 200 (XJO) closed 49.3 points higher than its session low and just 0.13% above its high. Those in the lead outnumbered those in the broader S&P/ASX 300 (XKO), with a 156-to-129 ratio.

In an exclusive interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour on Monday, the International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor Karim Khan said the court is seeking arrest warrants for Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes and crimes against humanity over the October 7 attacks on Israel and the Gaza war.
